‘He came, He saw, He conquered’, This is most probably the quote that comes to mind when envisioning a successful person. But is it really as easy as the quote states? Do we really just need to come, see and then conquer? Or is there something else which is missing? In this article we are going to evaluate the downfall of the muslim ummah and how we can achieve the position that we as muslims lost a few centuries ago.
When we talk about the downfall of the ummah we should first evaluate what might have caused our present day downtrodden position in society, and to do that we should first look up to history.
The history of the degradation of the muslim ummah:
Before the 50 years of the islamic kingdom the muslims had earned respect in the world. The muslims had started applying the teachings of the Quran in politics, science, law and justice systems just as the Quran has commanded the muslims to do so. But after the islamic kingdom the developments happening in the muslim world had decreased and gradually decreased to this point over a millennium that now muslims are inventing nothing but rather consuming everything, now we have more economic and political crisis and financial stagnation. And all of this can be linked to the emergence of the islamic kingdom, which in itself is not islamic at all.
There are many problems with this political system of which some are:
It has caused the muslim ummah to stop partaking in political matters and has granted the monarch all the rights to take any political decision he pleases without any accountability
This system has made causing corruption unaccountable and has caused muslims around the world to commit such immoral acts for their benefits and we can take one example of this corruption is that of the Mughals have done during their rule and furthermore we can even observe the Banu Umayya and the Abbasids .
Due to this system’s abrupt concept of unaccountability, The monarch can take any decisions and he can also censor what he suspects might make his position vulnerable in front of his people. Due to this the monarch kept censoring everything and one of his ways of doing so was to exile the person spreading the truth that the system of monarchy contradicts islam. Now one his other ways was by pressuring the person or by threatening to cause damage to any of his social affairs or to his family. This developed a sense of fear among people and caused them to become cowards which is one of the leading causes of the geopolitical crisis that we can observe happening in Palestine, Myanmar, and China.
The system of kingdomship has divided muslims into sects and furthermore played an important role in building borders in the muslim world.
These borders of course are causing division among muslims in religious, political and societal matters.
All of these conditions have led muslims to have an inferior psychology complex which is causing us to underestimate our abilities and the actions we can take for the just cause.
How to combat all these challenges in the muslim ummah:
We have to reunite: we should reunite ourselves disregarding the divisions that have been created between us such as the shia and sunni divisions in the muslim ummah where the sunnis hate shias proclaiming they hate the prophet SAW and that the shias are the killers of imam husain and the shias hate sunnis proclaiming that they’ve killed many shias and that they were the killers of Imam husain. While not all allegations are false, we should not divide ourselves based on the acts of a minority that exists in both sects.
Small entrepreneurship and startups: we should start opening up more businesses instead of working in multinational companies that just devour our work and make profit out of it giving us no benefit whatsoever. But if we start setting up businesses it’s gonna be us who are gonna get all the benefits, while working to earn a living we will be actively helping our people.
We should firmly believe in our scripture: we should firmly believe in the Quran and the teachings of the prophet and derive scientific evidence or reasons that prove the points that the Quran has touched. We should start applying the quran everywhere just like the muslims in the past did because that’s the only way through which we can earn success and overcome our current status.
Shift purpose and mindset: As we can see in history that when we had a purpose we strived for it, the same can be done right now as well. If we shift our mindset and purpose of life and link it to islam then we would be able to regain the intellectual position of the ummah in the past.
We should educate and spread awareness: we should educate children and make them understand the current situation of the muslims because its always the youth that brings change into society and we should be training our youth to follow the ideals of islam and establish them everywhere and to speak and act against oppression of any people be it muslims or any other people. We should spread awareness to make people understand the corruption that exists in the current system and to make them demand a revolution.
Conclusively, the article sheds light on the gradual decline of the Muslim ummah throughout history, attributing this downturn to the rise of non-Islamic regimes that stimulate as legitimate authorities. This shift in power dynamics resulted in widespread political corruption, heightened divisions within the community, and a pervasive sense of inferiority among Muslims. To address and overcome these pressing challenges, the article advocates for a multi-faceted approach. Firstly, fostering unity among Muslims is deemed essential to consolidate strength and solidarity. Additionally, promoting entrepreneurship within the community can stimulate economic growth and empowerment. Emphasizing unwavering faith in Islamic scriptures is proposed as a means to preserve cultural and spiritual values. A fundamental shift in mindset towards progress, adaptability, and innovation is also highlighted as crucial for the rejuvenation of the Muslim ummah. Lastly, investing in education and knowledge dissemination emerges as a pivotal strategy to equip the community with the skills and insights needed to thrive in contemporary society. By embracing these strategies collectively, the Muslim community can aspire towards revival, progress, and a reinvigoration of its historical legacy.
