Islamabad: In the first 10 months of this financial year, rice exports from the country have increased by 80.13 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the data, 5.097 million metric tons of rice worth $3.282 billion were exported during July-April 2023-24, compared to 3.270 million metric tons worth $1.822 million in the same period last year. Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Basmati Rice Exports 612,086 metric tons of Basmati rice at $699,208 million increased by 34.01 percent compared to 486,998 tons of exports at $521,751 million in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, over 4,474 million metric tons of other types of rice were exported in the last 10 months worth $2,583 billion, compared to 2,783 million metric tons worth $1,300 billion in the same period last year.
Other rice exports increased by around 98.64 percent in the period under review compared to the same period last year.
Food group exports showed a growth of 45.61 percent as food products worth $ 6.228 billion were exported compared to $ 4.277 billion in the same period last year.
On the other hand, during the period under review, the country’s food imports decreased by 12.18 percent as it stood at $6.817 billion compared to $7.762 billion in the same period last year.
Also, food imports in April 2024 were worth 527.026 million dollars, compared to 429.114 million dollars in the same month last year, an increase of 22.82 percent.
