Former President Dr. Arif Alwi said that talks are the only solution to improve the country and he said that he wants to talk and will continue to invite relevant people for this purpose and will talk to anyone.
Addressing the media in Lahore, the former president said that he could not refuse to hold talks and said that he had played the role of a bridge and was ready to play that role again. “My failure is to accept failure,” said Dr. Alvi.
He also informed the media that he had held a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan on Thursday and said that the former prime minister had sacrificed himself.
“We have always protected the army and will continue to do so,” said Arif Alvi.
He further said that freedom of press is the golden option for survival in Pakistan and if press is free, proper information can be provided to people. “Don’t hesitate to tell the truth, don’t lie,” he said, adding that rumors always disturb the country’s stability.
The former president said that the charges against the six Islamabad High Court judges were justified and that the court was always open to transparency in all proceedings. “Justice will be delivered only when the judiciary is independent,” said Alvi.
He also said that the recent visit of the Saudi Arabian delegation would be beneficial for the country. “Pakistan needs capital now,” Alvi said.
