Islamabad: The Pakistan Engineering Council Working Group on Public Sector Institutions Issues (WG‑PSII) held its second meeting at the Council’s Headquarters to discuss key issues faced by engineers in government organizations.

Pakistan Engineering Council Reviews Pay Disparities

The working group examined strategies for implementing a uniform technical allowance for engineers serving in federal departments as well as in Sindh and Balochistan.

Policy Paper on Engineering Equity Finalized

Following consultations, members prepared a policy paper titled Engineering Equity: The Pakistan Engineering Council’s Demands for Technical Allowance, recommending a standardized allowance linked to Council registration.

Concerns Over Non‑Engineers in Technical Roles

The group raised serious concerns about the appointment of non‑engineers to engineering positions, stressing that such practices undermine performance and violate the Pakistan Engineering Council Act.

Privatization and Service Structure Challenges

Discussions also covered the proposed privatization of profitable discos and broader service structure issues, warning that privatization could worsen job security concerns.

Continuous Engagement with Authorities

The council reaffirmed its commitment to remain in contact with federal and provincial authorities to ensure equal benefits and timely implementation of demands.
