PMA Unveils Murree Glass Train Routes and Fares for Scenic Travel

The Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA) has unveiled the first official details of the Murree Glass Train, an electric monorail project designed to provide a scenic and eco-friendly travel option between Islamabad and the hill station.

Scenic and Sustainable Travel

The Murree Glass Train is being introduced as a faster and greener alternative to road journeys, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and emissions. The route will connect Lake View Park in Islamabad to a terminal near the Murree bus stand, with the full journey expected to take about 40 minutes.

Route and Stations

According to PMA, the system will feature four stations: Lake View Park, Chattar Park, Ghora Gali, and the final stop near the Murree bus stand. The design includes glass walls to allow panoramic views of the surrounding hills, enhancing the tourism experience.

Fare Categories

Two ticket options have been announced: a standard fare of Rs. 500 and a premium fare of Rs. 1,000. Officials said the pricing structure is intended to make the service accessible while offering upgraded comfort for premium passengers.

Launch Timeline

Further details regarding the operational schedule and launch date of Murree Glass Train are expected to be shared soon. PMA officials emphasized that the project reflects a broader push toward sustainable transport solutions in the region.
