SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Wana Union of Journalists (WUJ) Chairman Adam Khan Wazir has said in a statement after the meeting held with the cabinet members on Friday.
He said in a statement, May 3rd is being celebrated as World Press Freedom Day all over the world.
Journalism is one of the most dangerous professions in the world, Pakistan is the fifth most dangerous country in the world for journalists.
Chairman said at the same time, a journalist has dozens of enemies, be it government, administration, other institutions and politicians.
He said although the journalist is the only person who highlights the problems in the area, exposes the corrupt people.
He said that journalists convey the voice of the people to the higher authorities, working day and night on different issues and problems in the area but despite this, they have hundreds of enemies.
Chairman further said that doing journalism in the merged tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is like playing with life but despite this, the efforts of our journalists for the nation and the region continue.
He said in the past, dozens of journalists from tribal districts have either been martyred or injured in the war against terrorism.
However, most of the journalists were forced to leave their homes.
Chairman said on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, that a journalist belongs to everyone, but here it is worth mentioning that a journalist does not belong to anyone.
He also said that it is very easy to criticize and blame journalists, but very few people realize that true journalism has become very difficult in Pakistan, it is very difficult to tell the truth.
