Pakistan Human Resource Network (PHRN), Shaheed Bhutto Foundation, Ministry of Human Rights of Pakistan, Islamabad High Court Bar Association and Legal Voice International, organized a workshop on “Domestic Violence: Understanding Legal Protection and Supporting Victims”. “At Szabist University.
The event aims to raise awareness about the prevalence of domestic violence in Pakistan, legal protection for victims and the importance of supporting survivors. Ms. Mughiza Imtiaz, Chairperson of the Women’s Rights Cell and Education Committee, PHRN, was instrumental in holding the hearing.
Speakers include Shiza Qureshi and Speakers – Advocate Syed Qamar Sabzwari and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Islamabad Bar Council, Advocate Shafqat Abbas Tarrar (Secretary Islamabad High Court), Advocate Waqas Malik (Former Secretary) and Deputy Director Ruhsana Omar from the Department of Human Rights. and Asif Khan (CEO Shahid Bhutto Foundation) emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to address domestic violence, including legal aid, counseling and community support. It also highlights the important role of law enforcement agencies, the judiciary and civil society organizations in protecting victims and bringing perpetrators to justice.
This conference was attended by legal experts, activists, students and concerned citizens who participated in lively discussions and question-and-answer sessions. The event ended with a call to participants to unite in the fight against domestic violence and promote gender equality.
