LAHORE:- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport from Islamabad on Tuesday morning.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz welcomed the Iranian president as he landed at Lahore airport. Provincial Chief Minister Marryum Aurangzeb and Information Minister Azma Zahid Bokhari were also present.
Provincial Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Khawaja Salman Rafique, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, Chief Secretary Bilal Inasin and IG Punjab were also present. A smart contingent of Punjab Rangers presented a guard of honor to President Raisi.
The streets of the city were decorated with banners and boards welcoming the arrival of the Iranian president. After landing in Lahore, President Raisi went straight to Mazar-e-Iqbal and laid a wreath at the tomb of Oriental poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
He praised Pakistan’s position in Gaza
The Iranian president praised Pakistan’s support for Gaza and its people in the wake of Israeli atrocities.
He said that Allama Iqbal has given a new direction to Muslims all over the world. As for the Gaza war, he said the supreme leader is of the opinion that the Palestinians will win the war and Israel will lose.
He said he was very happy with his visit to Pakistan and felt at home. He said he wanted to reach out to the people of Pakistan.
During his visit to Lahore, the Iranian president will also visit Minar-e-Pakistan, Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort. A luncheon will be hosted by the Prime Minister in honor of the President of Iran at the Governor’s House.
The foreign dignitaries will visit Karachi after meeting Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman. He will be visited by Sindh Chief Minister Myrat Ali Shah in Karachi. Raisi will visit Mazar-e-Kuai in Karachi and later meet the business community.
Local holidays
The provincial governments of Punjab and Sindh have declared local holidays in Lahore and Karachi on the occasion of the Iranian president’s visit to the two capitals.
According to the administration, public and private schools, colleges and universities will be closed today. Government and private offices will also be closed for the occasion.
