RAWALPINDI — The three-day 2nd International Precision Agriculture Conference (IPAC) 2025 concluded at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) with a strong call for embracing digital innovation and modern technology to transform Pakistan’s agriculture sector. The event was organized by the university’s Center for Precision Agriculture (C4PA) under the theme “Transforming Agriculture through Digital Innovations.”
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, while MPA Punjab Ms. Asma Naz Abbasi attended as the guest of honor. The conference was held in both physical and online formats, attracting participation from national and international experts, researchers, and practitioners in the field of precision agriculture.
Speaking at the 2nd International Precision Agriculture Conference, the Federal Minister highlighted the urgent need for reforms in agriculture, emphasizing that food security and export growth are vital for national progress. “We must focus on increasing our agricultural exports and adopting modern technologies to ensure sustainable growth,” he said. Abbasi commended the efforts of the organizers for bringing together intellectuals and experts from around the world to discuss the future of precision agriculture.
Addressing the 2nd International Precision Agriculture Conference, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman said that the era of automation, artificial intelligence, and precision farming had already begun, and Pakistan must adapt to remain competitive. “By adopting these technologies, we can reduce costs, improve efficiency, conserve resources, and boost yields while protecting the environment,” he remarked. He also appreciated the contributions of international and national speakers, participants, and organizers, particularly Dr. Muhammad Naveed Tahir and Dr. Shoaib Rashid Saleem, for successfully hosting the event.
The conference featured eight technical sessions with paper presentations and discussions, along with an Agricultural Expo, IT Exhibition, Food Fest, Bird Show, Art and Craft Exhibition, and poster sessions. On the final day, shields and souvenirs were presented to guests and participants, while the event concluded with a Kissan Mela at the University Research Farm in Koont, Tehsil Gujar Khan, showcasing modern agricultural practices and innovations.
