LIAQUATPUR (ABU HURARA ALVI): A high-impact numberdar convention in Liaqatpur took place at the local grain market as part of the government’s campaign to expand wheat cultivation across the tehsil. During the event, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Ibrahim Miladi Khar assigned a special task to the numberdaran. He urged them to increase wheat acreage and actively support the campaign.

Moreover, he emphasized that numberdaran are official representatives of the government and must ensure maximum participation in the wheat expansion initiative. Their role is critical in mobilizing farmers and implementing the campaign’s goals at the grassroots level.

Meanwhile, Assistant Director of Agriculture Chaudhary Haseeb Akbar praised the Punjab government’s agreement with the private sector to purchase wheat at Rs. 3,500 per maund. He called it a timely and welcome step that will incentivize farmers and increase the area under wheat. Additionally, he added that farmer training programs, the numberdar convention in Liaqatpur, and official releases support the campaign.

To facilitate large-scale wheat sowing, authorities are ensuring water supply in all areas of the tehsil. Furthermore, they are coordinating efforts with the Irrigation Department. This infrastructure support is expected to boost both yield and farmer participation.

Later, Senior Agriculture Officer Zahid Raza Bajwa briefed attendees on modern wheat production technologies. In addition, Agriculture Officer Malik Ghulam Ali discussed government measures to promote oilseed cultivation, especially canola. He also outlined steps to prevent smog and informed participants about penalties and fines for environmental violations.

Ultimately, the numberdar convention in Liaqatpur reflects a broader push for food security, sustainable agriculture, and climate-conscious farming practices. With rising global concerns over crop yields and environmental impact, such initiatives are vital to ensuring long-term agricultural resilience.
