Islamabad, October 8, 2025 — In a landmark moment for Pakistan’s hospitality industry, IMARAT has become the country’s first certified operator of Marriott International hotels. The achievement marks a significant leap not only for IMARAT’s real estate portfolio but also for Pakistan’s capacity to manage world-class hospitality brands through homegrown expertise.

The certification follows 14 months of intensive training under Marriott’s Fastrack to Franchising Academy (FFA), a program designed to equip regional partners with global operational standards. With this milestone, IMARAT enters the international hospitality arena through its dedicated subsidiary, IMARAT Hospitality.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, IMARAT Chairman Shafiq Akbar emphasized the strategic importance of the certification. “Pakistan’s competition is global, not local. This partnership with Marriott sets a new benchmark. Now, when international hotels are built in Pakistan, we won’t need to rely on foreign operators. Pakistanis will run them,” he said.

Sean Brennan, Director of FFA at Marriott International, flew in from London to honor the occasion. “It’s been a privilege to work with IMARAT. Their energy and professionalism are exactly what Marriott looks for in a regional partner,” he remarked.

Also in attendance was Sardar Yasir Ilyas, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Tourism, who called the achievement a proud moment for the nation. “This will raise hospitality standards, attract global visitors, and strengthen our tourism and investment potential,” he said.

IMARAT is now set to operate four Marriott hotels in Pakistan, beginning with the launch of Courtyard by Marriott in Islamabad’s G-11 sector next year. The move is expected to boost employment, enhance tourism infrastructure, and position Pakistan as a serious player in the global hospitality market.

Beyond corporate success, the certification carries national significance. It reflects Pakistan’s growing ability to manage international brands, foster sustainable tourism, and translate global partnerships into local impact. As the country continues to invest in hospitality and real estate, IMARAT’s achievement sets a precedent for future ventures — one that blends ambition with capability, and vision with execution.
