Islamabad – The Russian Language Center at Allama Iqbal Open University continues to open new doors for Pakistani youth. It offers pathways to education, careers, and cultural exchange. During a certificate distribution ceremony for the third and fourth batch of Russian language students, Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev emphasized the growing importance of learning Russian.
He stated, “Learning Russian language is not only a means for educational advancement but also opens numerous new doors for business and career opportunities.” In light of this, he urged Pakistani youth to begin learning Russian today. Moreover, he highlighted the excellent opportunities available in Russia for students and professionals.
To formally begin the ceremony, Registrar Raja Umar Younis welcomed attendees with an introductory speech. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood followed by noting that the university prioritizes international cooperation. He described the success of the Russian language course as a reflection of this commitment. According to him, education will further strengthen ties between Pakistan and Russia.
Additionally, Dr. Nasir shared that many Pakistani students are interested in pursuing higher education in Russia. They enroll in the Russian Language Center to prepare for academic goals abroad. By providing essential training, the university helps students succeed more easily.
Meanwhile, Ms. Alina Kolesnikova, Third Secretary for Education and Culture at the Russian Embassy, described the Russian Language Center as a vital step in fostering friendly relations. She emphasized its role in promoting cultural exchange between the two nations. Russian language instructor Ekaterina Andriets also highlighted the course’s achievements and key learning outcomes.
Later in the program, Dr. Zahid Majid, Director of International Collaboration and Exchange, presented the university’s profile and its cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Education. He explained how this partnership creates academic opportunities for students in both countries. He also mentioned that the center was established in 2023. On this occasion, it certified 28 graduates from its third and fourth batches.
At the conclusion of the event, organizers distributed certificates among the students. Participants praised the program as a meaningful step toward strengthening educational relations between Pakistan and Russia. Ultimately, the Russian Language Center continues to serve as a bridge for collaboration, learning, and mutual growth.
