The condemnation followed a deadly terrorist attack in Quetta near the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters on Tuesday. According to Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, the explosion killed 10 people and injured 32. Most of the injured were moved to the Civil Hospital and Trauma Centre for treatment.

Civil Lines Police confirmed that several bodies arrived at the hospital. Meanwhile, SSP Special Operations Muhammad Baloch said the blast occurred when a vehicle turned from Model Town towards Hali Road, close to the FC headquarters.

Television and social media footage showed the moment the powerful explosion ripped through the busy street. As a result, panic quickly spread across the area.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the incident, declaring it a “terrorist attack.” He added that security forces responded swiftly and eliminated four terrorists in the aftermath. Bugti stressed that terrorists cannot weaken the resolve of the nation. Moreover, he reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring peace in Balochistan.

President Asif Ali Zardari termed the incident a suicide attack, carried out by extremists the state describes as Fitna-al-Khawarij—a label for banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants. He alleged that such acts served India’s agenda and vowed they would not destabilize Pakistan.

The president praised the timely response of security forces, acknowledged their sacrifices, and prayed for the recovery of injured personnel.
