Peshawar: Known as a city of rich culture and tradition, Peshawar Shalwar Kameez and Kurtas with rich embroidery work are selling like hotcakes in the city before Eid.
Shalwar Kameez and traditional Kurta, a fusion of modernity and tradition offered by a variety of local and international outfits, attract a large number of men and boys in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where shopping goes on till night.
The main city and cantonment, Qissa Khawani, University Road, Mane Bazaars, Fakirabad, Shafi Bazaar and others are filled with customers who choose appropriate costumes to celebrate Eid al-Adha.
Top national fabric designers have introduced new varieties of colorfully designed shalwar kameez and kurta pajama, while 20-30 percent discount offers by retailers are attracting Eid flocks in other districts to Peshawar.
Zershan Khan, a resident of Wapda, Peshawar, said, “Cotton Shalwar Kamiz set is my favorite item and my Eid seems incomplete without it.”
The traditional Peshawari Chappal and Shalwar kameez are widely recognized as symbols of the traditions and culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in particular, and are favored by many people in the region for Eid celebrations and weddings.
“I came to get ready in a Shalwar Kamez suit for my relative for Eid,” said Waris Khan, a Peshawari kurta lover from Deccan Mall.
Readymade Salwar Kurta suit store is very attractive for low income groups and government officials as the cost of 1500 dollars for tailoring can be easily saved.
Waris said that he bought two Shawlar Kurtas for his maternal uncle’s son which would double his happiness and said that the Shawar Kamez and Kurta offered in Peshawar market are economical and save the consumer’s time.
Demand for kurta shalwar has increased after tailors refused to accept more orders due to the arrival of Eid al-Adha on Wednesday.
