ISLAMABAD: Al Quds has been observed on the last Friday of Ramadan to express solidarity with the Palestinians who are fighting against the bloody Israeli occupation.
Crowds in the provincial capitals of Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar marched to mark the day as a sign of solidarity with their Palestinian brothers.
The Palestinian representative in Islamabad called on President Asif Ali Zardari, where the president said that the Palestinians stand with their Palestinian brothers.
Israel’s bloody offensive in the besieged Gaza Strip has killed more than 32,000 innocent Palestinian men, women and children and fueled a humanitarian crisis by blocking international aid by land, sea and air.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s speech for Al-Quds Day paid tribute to Palestinian determination and independence.
Maryam Nawaz said that the sacrifices of the Palestinian brothers and sisters for freedom will not go in vain and that Israel will not be able to suppress the Palestinians through oppression and violence. The oppression of the Zionist state against the Palestinian brothers is condemned.
The MWM leadership consisting of Allama Baqir Abbas Zaydi, Maulana Hayat Abbas Najafi, Maulana Malik Abbas and Allama Mubasher Hasan had earlier demanded the federal government officially celebrate Al-Quds Day.
“Over the past six months, Israel has destroyed the Gaza Strip with heavy airstrikes. More than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed in this brutality, including 22,000 innocent women and children, and 75,000 injured,” he said.
“It is time for humanity and the people of Pakistan to step forward and save the lives of the people of Gaza and provide them with essential needs such as food and medicine in an emergency,” he said.
