ABBOTTABAD (Asif Mehmood Awan) — In a landmark moment for linguistic inclusion, the Amna Sardar’s Hindko speech made history in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Representing the Pakistan Muslim League (N), Amna Sardar became the first member to address the House in Hindko, a proud milestone for the Hindko-speaking community of Hazara Division.

This breakthrough followed the recent approval of new Assembly rules that now permit Hindko and Seraiki alongside Urdu, English, and Pashto. Speaker Babar Saleem Swati led the push for this change, championing regional languages to promote diversity and ensure broader representation.

During her speech, Amna Sardar thanked Speaker Swati for his support. She said, “This step will not only promote linguistic diversity but will also become a means of harmony between different nationalities and cultures.” Lawmakers responded with applause and appreciation.

Political and social circles across the province welcomed the move. Many called it a progressive step toward inclusivity. The decision to allow Hindko and Seraiki in official proceedings recognizes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s rich linguistic heritage.

The Amna Sardar’s Hindko speech set a new parliamentary precedent and strengthened the voice of regional communities in legislative affairs. Her initiative may inspire more efforts to preserve and promote indigenous languages across Pakistan.

Moreover, this move encourages lawmakers to speak in their native languages. It strengthens cultural representation and helps preserve Pakistan’s linguistic diversity. Ultimately, it reinforces the mosaic of identities that define the nation.
