Timergara (Rahmat Ullah Swati — In a major step toward improving public hygiene, the Lower Dir sanitation initiative has rolled out 182 loader vehicles and sanitation kits across all Village Councils. These vehicles will now collect garbage directly from citizens’ doorsteps, significantly enhancing cleanliness in both urban and rural areas.
During the handover ceremony, Assistant Director Local Government Balambat Asif Khan, Assistant Director Local Government Maidan Lal Qila Kamran Zarin, and representatives of assembly members distributed vehicle keys and sanitation kits to Village Council chairmen.
Speaking at the event, Asif Khan emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to environmental health. “We are paying full attention to the cleanliness of every region,” he said. “This initiative marks a revolutionary step in rural sanitation, ensuring that waste is collected efficiently and regularly.”
He further noted that sanitation staff will now operate door-to-door, making it easier for residents to dispose of household waste. This proactive approach is expected to reduce garbage heaps and improve overall hygiene.
Moreover, Khan appealed to citizens to cooperate with sanitation workers. “Community support is essential,” he added. “Together, we can keep Lower Dir clean and beautiful.”
The Lower Dir sanitation initiative reflects a broader provincial strategy to modernize waste management and promote sustainable living. With active participation from local councils and residents, the district is poised to become a model for rural cleanliness in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
