Timergara (Rahmat Ullah Swati): The Timergara Hospital ICU cannot operate fully due to a shortage of nurses, said Dr. Bakht Zada Akhunzada, Medical Superintendent (MS) of District Headquarters Hospital Timergara. While the ICU has all the necessary equipment, the limited number of nurses prevents it from functioning effectively. Dr. Akhunzada formally requested the provincial government to increase the nursing staff. He added that, if immediate approval is not granted, nurses should be hired on a daily-wage emergency basis.
The MS highlighted that the hospital treats nearly 50,000 patients every month. Patients now benefit from a computerized X-ray machine in the casualty department, which eliminates the need for traditional X-ray films.
To ease traffic congestion, hospital authorities opened a second gate and implemented a one-way traffic system. This measure significantly reduced vehicle jams. Dr. Akhunzada clarified that private ambulances were not entirely banned. Only those lacking oxygen, first aid equipment, qualified staff, suction machines, air conditioning, or proper registration were restricted. Ambulances meeting all standards are allowed to operate.
Dr. Akhunzada also announced plans to computerize the hospital system for better transparency in departmental revenue. He rejected reports linking him to a pharmacist’s transfer, stating that such decisions fall under the provincial health department’s authority.
He reaffirmed his commitment to making the District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara, a model medical facility. Expanding the nursing staff will ensure the Timergara Hospital ICU can serve patients efficiently and save more lives.
