Blood cancer awareness walk organized by Himmel Pharma

LAHORE: A blood cancer awareness walk was held at Sheikh Zayed Hospital by the Department of Hematology in collaboration with Himmel Pharmaceuticals. The walk was led by Executive Director and Chairman of Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Dr. Akbar Hussain.

The objective of the walk was to highlight the importance of early diagnosis, available treatment options, and collective efforts against this disease. A large number of participants, including all heads of departments, doctors, paramedical staff, students, and people from different walks of life, attended the event. The participants carried placards and banners inscribed with awareness messages about blood cancer.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Mona Aziz Gilani, Dean of PGMI and Head of the Department of Hematology and Blood Bank, said that timely identification of blood cancer can save lives and urged the public to immediately consult specialists if symptoms appear.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman Ahmad, Head of the Medicine Department, stated that modern treatment and research can significantly improve patient outcomes, but public awareness is indispensable. GM Himmel Pharma, Irfan Daud Butt, and Director Himmel Pharma, Dr. Usman Amin Butt, in their addresses, emphasized that Himmel Pharma prioritizes public health awareness and welfare activities. They added that fighting a deadly disease like blood cancer requires not only treatment but also awareness campaigns, and their organization will continue to play its role in this regard.

Principal of Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Prof. Ayesha Humayun, Dr. Hussain Farooq (AP Hematology Department), and Dr. Lubna Riaz (Head of Pediatrics Department), along with others, also addressed the event.

The speakers appreciated the role of the media, calling it the most effective means to spread awareness and deliver the message to the maximum number of people. In the end, awareness pamphlets were distributed among the participants.
