Iraq Commander Visits Pakistan to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

Rawalpindi: The Iraqi Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Muhannad Ghalib Muhammad Radi Al-Asadi, visited Pakistan to discuss Pakistan-Iraq defence cooperation. He called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), at Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, both leaders held detailed discussions on the evolving global and regional geo-strategic landscape. Moreover, they emphasized the importance of bilateral collaboration for regional peace and stability. Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding Pakistan-Iraq defence cooperation.

The visiting dignitary appreciated the professional standards, achievements, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in combating terrorism. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote regional security.

Earlier, upon arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters, a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented a Guard of Honour to Lieutenant General Al-Asadi. In addition, the ceremonial reception highlighted the strong military ties and friendship between the two nations.

Officials from both countries discussed joint initiatives and future exercises aimed at strengthening Pakistan-Iraq defence cooperation. These efforts aim to enhance mutual trust and regional stability. The visit also underlined Pakistan’s role as a key partner in fostering defence collaboration in the Middle East and South Asia.

The visit concludes a successful round of talks that reinforced the strategic partnership and highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue in defence and security matters between Pakistan and Iraq.
