Islamabad: Amb. Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) to Pakistan paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister.
The Ambassador congratulated the Prime Minister on his re-election and expressed his best wishes for the U.A.E. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and hoped that the strong brotherly ties between the two countries would be further strengthened in the coming years.
The Prime Minister thanked the U.A.E. leadership for their warm greetings and conveyed his best wishes to President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The prime minister recalled the historic ties between Pakistan and the UAE and said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its brotherly relations with the US. The two countries have always supported each other and there was a strong desire on both sides to raise the relationship to a higher level, the Prime Minister added.
The Prime Minister further said that Pakistan wants to translate the tremendous political goodwill into a stronger economic partnership. Notice the exciting transformation of the U.A.E. to the center of trade, tourism and investment, the prime minister said Pakistan wants to partner with the U.A.E. He highlighted the role of the Special Investment Council (SIFC) as an effective mechanism for attracting foreign investment in priority sectors including agriculture, minerals and mining, I.T., renewable energy and industry.
On the multilateral side, the Prime Minister congratulated the UAE. for successfully hosting the COP 28 climate change meeting last year, as well as his efforts to bring peace to Gaza while serving as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. He also praised the U.A.E. for hosting nearly 1.8 million Pakistanis who were a bridge between the two countries.
The ambassador reaffirmed the U.A.E. leadership’s commitment to Pakistan and said that the U.A.E. looks forward to working with the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to build stronger ties.
The Ambassador invited the Prime Minister on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit the United Arab Emirates. at the nearest convenience. While accepting the invitation, the Prime Minister also reiterated the invitation to the President of the U.A.E. at the earliest opportunity to visit Pakistan and said that the Pakistani people expect to be given a very warm welcome.
