BAHAWALPUR:
The Department of Fashion, Arts & Design at The Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur organized a vibrant and creative Thesis Display, showcasing the innovative and artistic works of its talented students. The exhibition featured an impressive array of textile designs, fashion sketches, handmade art, miniatures, and paintings — reflecting the diverse themes and cultural inspirations explored by the students.
Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand, Vice Chancellor of Aror University Sukkur, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum Vice Chancellor of GSCWU Bahawalpur, accompanied him during the inspection of the students’ creative displays.
The thesis projects covered a wide range of topics including faces of life, calligraphy styles, and various cultural identities, all creatively represented through colorful and artistic textile designs. The Chief Guest praised the creativity and originality of the students’ work, describing it as visionary, mature, and reflective of modern design sensibilities. He further appreciated the unique artistic perspectives demonstrated by the students of Bahawalpur and extended an invitation to the GSCWU faculty and students to visit Aror University Sukkur for mutual academic collaboration.
Addressing the event, Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Vice Chancellor, emphasized the university’s commitment to promoting student talent beyond academic boundaries. She announced the upcoming launch of e-commerce platforms for the online sale of student artwork, enabling them to reach broader markets and take steps toward financial independence. She also revealed plans to establish a souvenir shop on campus, where high-quality artworks and creative pieces from the Fine Arts Department will be available for sale.
The event was well-attended by faculty members and students. Distinguished attendees included Prof. Dr. Musarrat, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences; Dr. Saima Anjum, Registrar; and Ms. Najia Sarwar, Incharge, Department of Fashion, Arts & Design.
