Protest in Jhelum Valley for release of Kashmiri prisoners

Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir demanded the international community that Kashmiri prisoners in Indian jails should be released immediately as Narendra Modi’s government is using jails and imprisonment as a weapon of war against the Kashmiri people.

According to details, a public rally was organized in the main market of Lamnian town of Jhelum Valley district under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat to raise demand of the release of Kashmiri prisoners in Indian jails and implementation of plebiscite resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

The rally was led by Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Leader PPP Shaukat Javed Mir, Vice Chairman Usman Ali Hashim, Hashmat Hussain Chak, Hafiz Muhammad Farooq, Trader Leader Sajid Abbasi, Nazir Ahmed and others.

Large number of citizens, including the elderly, youth and children, participated In the rally and carried pictures of Kashmiri leaders imprisoned in Indian jails.

The protesters also held banners that read “Indian invaders, leave Jammu and Kashmir”, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir demand the right to self-determination” and “The people of Kashmir want freedom from India”.

The participants also carried the flags of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, as well as black flags in protest against the Indian occupation of Kashmir.

While addressing the rally, the speakers said that the brutal government of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Narendra Modi is using jails and imprisonment to weaken the Kashmir freedom movement.

They said that thousands of Kashmiris including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Musarrat Alam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Syeda Asia Andrabi, Dr. Qasim Fakto, Dr. Abdul Hameed Fayyaz, Fehmida Sufi, Ayaz Akbar, Nahida Nasreen, Pir Saifullah, Muhammad Yousuf, Zafar Akbar Butt have been imprisoned in Indian jails since many years.

They maintained that Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Fehmida Sufi, Dr. Hameed Fayyaz and many others prisoners are suffering from deadly diseases and there is no medical facility available to them.

The speakers condemned the Indian coercive tyranny against the unarmed citizens in occupied Kashmir, calling it a heinous crime.

The protesters vowed that their resistance would continue until the liberation of occupied Kashmir.

Protestors demanded that international human rights organizations Amnesty International, Asia Watch and others to put pressure on the Indian government to release all Kashmiri prisoners.

The protesters demanded that the Pakistani government raise its voice at the international level for the release of Kashmiri prisoners in view of the deteriorating situation.

The speakers said that the Kashmiri people are demanding freedom from the usurper Delhi government in accordance with international norms, principles and resolutions.
