RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak said here on Monday that as many as 378,496 deserving families will be provided with Negahban ration bags and monitoring of preparation of ration bags for Negahban Rashan Ramazan package is underway.
He said that the distribution of Negahban Rashan Ramadan Package of Punjab Government will be started from 5th.
The Ramadan ration package would contain 10 kg flour of two kg each, rice, sugar, ghee and gram flour, he said, adding that the Punjab government had taken a major step to provide maximum relief to the public amid rising inflation.
For this he said that the Punjab government has proposed Negahban Rashn programme, a Ramazan relief package, he added.
The verification process of 67,628 households in Rawalpindi district, 45,181 in Jhelum, 5,541 in Murree, 74,624 in Attock and 64,654 in Chakwal district has been completed, he said.
Inspection rooms have also been set up in the offices of the Deputy Commissioner to monitor the Negahban Rashan Package distribution process, he said and informed that the quality and quantity of essential items contained in the ration bags are being checked.
The final lists were being prepared to verify the details of the beneficiaries of the entire division, the commissioner informed.
He said the authorities were directed to ensure the quality of essential items for the ration package that would go to the deserving families.
The DCs have also been instructed to monitor the packaging of the ration and ensure that there is no compromise in the specified quantity and quality of items in all packages.
Ing. Aamir Khattak said the DCs have also been directed to finalize the transport and security plan. According to him, transparency should be ensured when verifying the lists.
The commissioner directed that the people on the list who are no longer eligible for this package and a separate list of unverified be prepared. All processes should be monitored by setting up control room in DC offices.
Across the division, there are 378,496 households that are eligible for the package, Engineer Aamir Khattak added.
A total of 68 percent verification across the division has been done so far, he informed and directed that as far as the distribution of ration bags is concerned, the concerned departments should complete all their arrangements on priority. Every effort should be made for timely and efficient distribution of ration bags.
He further directed that arrangements should be made to deliver ration bags to the homes of deserving families.
