ISLAMABAD: A group of eight Pakistani undergraduate students (four from Islamabad and three from Karachi) will visit Japan from March 5 to 12, 2024, at the invitation of the Japanese government, as part of the JENEYSYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) program. A total of 49 youngsters from SAARC countries have been asked to participate in this program, which is themed around the environment.
JENESYS is a youth exchange program between Japan and the Asia Pacific area developed by the Japanese government with the goal of building mutual trust and understanding among Japanese and Asian Pacific peoples. With a focus on the environment, invitees from SAARC countries will have the opportunity to learn and deepen their understanding of Japan’s economy, society, history, politics, and diplomatic relations, as well as experience Japan’s diverse culture through lectures and visits.
The Japanese Embassy organized a pre-departure orientation workshop for visiting youth today to provide them with relevant information before they leave for Japan.
While interacting with the students on the occasion, Mr. Kazumasa Takane, Counsellor / Head of Public Affairs, recommended them to make the most of this chance and learn as much as possible about Japan during this brief period, as it may be a life-changing event for them. “Since arriving in Pakistan last year, I’ve met many young people who are active, talented, and eager to learn about Japan and its culture. He believed that youth from Pakistan and Japan may serve as a bridge to promote mutual understanding.
Every year, the Japanese government invites numerous groups of undergraduate and graduate students from SAARC nations to participate in this short-term invitation. The initiative is aimed to enhance capacity building as well as mutual understanding among Japanese and SAARC youngsters.
