Theft of Valuable Items Continues in Sensitive Area of T-5 Project — Major Action by WAPDA Security Force

Incidents of theft, particularly of copper, have seen a rise in the sensitive area of the T-5 Hydropower Project. In a significant development, the WAPDA Security Force thwarted an attempted theft through prompt action. According to details, during a routine inspection at the Mehran Check Post, the WAPDA Security Force intercepted a suspicious motorcycle. The bike was being ridden by Police Constable Mehr Hassan and Taimoor Hussain, son of Sajjad Hussain, a watchman with WAPDA’s D&S Watch and Ward department.

Upon searching a travel bag belonging to Taimoor Hussain, approximately 20 to 25 kilograms of copper was recovered. Sources indicate that the copper was allegedly stolen from the project area and was being smuggled out discreetly. The incident has been reported to the concerned senior officials; however, it has not yet been officially reported to Ghazi Police. Reliable sources confirm that the suspects have been taken into custody, and preliminary investigations have commenced.

The revelation of this incident has raised serious concerns regarding the security arrangements of the T-5 Project. Additionally, WAPDA administration’s silence on the increasing incidents of theft has become a matter of concern.
