A three-day book fair concluded at Government Postgraduate Jehanzeb College, Saidu Sharif in Swat district, attracting large numbers of students and book lovers, in what organizers described as a revival of reading habits among the youth.

Over 10,000 books covering a wide range of subjects—including history, geography, science, religion, literature, poetry, and fine arts—were displayed by various educational and publishing institutions. Students not only browsed the titles with enthusiasm but also purchased books at discounted prices, with many titles offered at half the original cost.

Speaking to the media, Professor Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman Atta, one of the event organizers, emphasized the importance of reconnecting young people with books in an era dominated by digital distractions.

“Our goal is to bring the younger generation back to the habit of reading so that their academic journey becomes more meaningful and lasting,” he said.

Students also expressed appreciation for the initiative, calling it a refreshing break from digital overload.

“Mobile phones and social media have distanced us from books, but this fair is reconnecting us with the joy of reading,” said a student participant.

“There is no better companion than a book,” added another.

The event is part of Jehanzeb College’s longstanding tradition of promoting intellectual and literary activities in the region.
