Islamabad: Vision Eye Care, an international aid organization dedicated to preventing blindness with a footprint in 39 countries, has launched its 35th cataract surgery project, Vision Eye Camp, in Karachi and Lahore. Sponsored by Parwaaz Financial Services Limited, CITI Group, Hanananum Foundation, Lotte Akhtar Beverages (Pvt) Ltd, Haimont Group and Galleria Design, this camp aims to treat 600 patients and perform 150 cataract surgeries.
The camp was organized by three ophthalmologists, Dr. Donghae Kim, Dr. Dongkwon Lim and Dr. Mathew Akashi (UCH Lahore) along with four nurses and five volunteers. Since 2002, Vision Care has played an important role in providing freedom to patients suffering from vision impairment, starting a blindness prevention project in Pakistan. In Lahore, this organization started community eye health services in 2006.
By offering the opportunity to restore vision, Vision Care not only provides cataract surgery to low-income groups, but also conducts eye screening programs and provides magnifiers to the underserved. Every two years, Vision Care conducts Vision Eye Camp in Pakistan and performs more than 100 cataract surgeries in each session.
Mr. Kim Kooboong, Chairman of the Korean Society in Pakistan, appreciates the voluntary work of Koreans like Vision.
Camp eyes emphasized that they have made an important contribution to the friendship between the two countries. As Pakistani companies actively participate in sponsoring events, this year takes on added significance.
