London: When Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool at the end of the season, Virgil van Dijk acknowledges that the club has a “big job” ahead of it to replace him.
Van Dijk is adjusting to Klopp’s unexpected decision to step down at the end of the current campaign. The captain of the Reds does not think that Liverpool’s goals for this season will be impacted by concerns about their long-term future.
Their first match since Klopp’s shocking statement came on Sunday, when they thrashed Norwich 5-2 in the FA Cup fourth round. However, he is aware that Liverpool needs to select Klopp’s replacement carefully.
“The club will have a big job on their hands, that is well known,” Van Dijk stated. “There are numerous reasons to change not only the boss but the entire workforce.
“I’m very curious which direction that will go in but when that will be announced we will see our situation.”My main focus is on that. “Hopefully we will have the success we all dream of and by then probably there will be more clarification about what the club wants for the future and then we will see.” “It will be the end of Jurgen Klopp’s era—I am still part of it, that’s why I don’t like to talk about it.”
Van Dijk responded, “That’s a big question,” when asked if he considered himself as a member of the next generation. I’m not sure. On Klopp’s farewell tour, Liverpool will face tougher challenges when they host Chelsea on Wednesday and then travel to Arsenal the following weekend.
