Renowned all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has unexpectedly announced his immediate retirement from ODI cricket, and he will not be part of the Champions Trophy.

Stoinis will continue to be available for Australia’s T20 International cricket team.

He stated that it was a difficult decision, but it is the right time to step away from ODIs.

Stoinis was part of Australia’s World Cup-winning team and was included in the initial squad for the scheduled 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan and UAE. However, his spot will be filled by a replacement player on February 12 for the final team selection.

Stoinis said, “Playing ODI cricket for Australia has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for every moment I spent with the Kangaroos. Representing my country at the highest level is something I will always cherish.”
