ISLAMABAD: Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, stated on Monday that Karachi would receive a continuous power supply from the government and K-Electric to suit its needs.
The prime minister gave the Ministry of Energy instructions to resolve the problems facing the company through mutual consultation at a meeting with a K-Electric delegation led by Chief Executive Officer Moonis Abdullah Alvi.
He asserted that policies had to be developed with the wellbeing and purchasing power of electricity users in mind.
The members of the delegation expressed their gratitude to the prime minister for resolving the long-standing problems that K-Electric was facing, as well as for approving the company’s investment plan of Rs 390 billion, setting a tariff for 640 megawatts of renewable energy projects, and providing an extra 1000 MW.
They believed that the government’s actions had sent a positive message to investors.
The prime minister was briefed on several K-Electric concerns during the meeting.

Imran Qureshi, the regulatory officer, and Muhammad Aamir Ghaziani, the chief finance officer of K-Electric, were also in the delegation.
Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Central Power Purchasing Agency Rehan Akhtar, Chairman of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority Wasim Mukhtar, and other top officers were present at the meeting.
