Chandor is a historical village of district Mansehra of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where direction of road had to be changed as machinery failed to work.
It is a historical village which served as living place for Hindus who were mostly traders by profession. They were very strict in their religious beliefs. Many Muslims also lived in the village with Hindus but these villagers having different religions subsisted with harmony and shared their happiness and also helped others in time of distress.
While heading towards Chandor from Mardan Gali, a short distance away, there is a government hospital at the junction of two mountains. Very close to it is a cemetery, which is located on a hill as big as a mountain. Even today, burials are still being carried out in it. There are dozens of graves in which no local person knows exactly who these people were.
This cemetery is known as Shaheedan. A little further down, in front of the main gate of the hospital, there are a few old graves that have come to the edge due to the construction of the road. It is also known that they were also martyred during the fight against the Sikhs, but who were these people? No one knows about this.
Since the construction of Chhapar Road is constructed by the army organization FWO, their base camp is also located near this hospital.
A strange incident took place while FWO was constructing road here. Hundreds of the villagers are eyewitness of the event.
The FWO attempted to demolish the martyrs’ cemetery. However, the heavy bulldozers were unable to move forward to demolish these graves while building the road and they got stuck. They made all out efforts to move ahead but were unable to proceed.
As they moved backward, they machinery started working again. Even after a desperate attempt, it was not possible to pass the road from here, so FWO had to change direction of road here.
