The strait between Madrassa system and common education has become more widening with the Passage of time, because in our country most of the governments did not paid attention to the madrassa system. It is a fact the main chunk of our young population is attracting to the Madrassas for getting Islamic education. The main reason is that most of the madrassas are providing free accommodation and education to students or charge very nominal fees.

Another hand the common education is relevantly very expensive from madrassas, that is why the people living below poverty line-enrolling their children in dinni (Islamic) Madrassas but that is why we are losing the main portion of the students to participate practically in the development of the country.

If we side line the politics, the former prime minster Imran Khan was the first political leader who released funds for the dinni madrassas although for that act he earn the title of “Taliban Khan” but it was a good move for upgrading the Madrassas.

Now the senior politician Molana Fazal-Ur- Rehman is demanding form the coalition government, to pass madrassa registration bill immediately. Actually the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-islam wants to end those arguments of the establishment that Madrassas are not registered. Due to this lacking often many madrassas had faced problems so along with Jamiat Ulema-e-islam other Islamic parties are also want to ends the matter at once.

For achieving that goal on Wednesdays Molana Fazal-Ur-Rehman met the chairman Pakistan people’s party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to convince the president of Pakistan to sign the madrassa registration bill. According to the media reports that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has assured Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman of his party’s full support for the madrassa registration bill, pledging that the president will sign it soon. That meeting was also attended by leaders from both parties, including JUI-F’s Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Senator Kamran Murtaza, Haji Ghulam Ali, Maulana Lutfur Rahman and Maulana Asad Mehmood. PPP’s Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Qamar Zaman Kaira also participated.

After a one-hour meeting, Bilawal and his delegation left without speaking to the media. However, JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza and PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf addressed reporters outside.

Senator Kamran Murtaza highlighted the urgency of the matter, stating, “The president is not a representative of any political party; he is the president of the state. Bilawal Bhutto has always supported us on the madrassa registration issue and continues to do so”.JUI-F Secretary-General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari echoed similar sentiments, confirming Bilawal’s assurance that the president would sign the bill.

Due to media reports President Asif Ali Zardari has returned the madrassa registration bill to the Prime Minister’s Office, citing legal objections. The bill can now only be passed into law through approval in a joint session of parliament.

In view of these objections, the prime minister cannot give any input on the bill. The legal sources explained that the president’s objections are based on the constitutional division of powers between the federal and provincial governments. The objections argue that madrassa registration falls under the purview of provincial education ministries, making it a provincial matter on which the federal government cannot legislate.

Furthermore, two laws already govern madrassa registration in Islamabad, and the bill does not clarify whether it would override them. To address these legal challenges, the bill must secure approval from all four provincial assemblies. It’s hoped that the federal will not only pass the bill but also reforms the madrassa system in country for there is need of liazan between the Islamic madrassas and for making reforms in the curricula that Islamic education system for competition with common education system that could bears useful fruits for the development of the country. As like turkey, where the madrassa system was reforms although that was controversial but we can do with mutual understanding of government for batter future of the country. For achieving that objective government will have release fuds for madrassas like former IK administration.
