SWAT: At least 35 suspects of the Madyan incident in Swat district were produced in the Anti-Terrorism Court after physical remand. The accused denied the health crime and the court sent them to Prison on judicial remand.
JIT Head and SP Investigation Swat Badshah Hazrat Khan said that after physical remand was completed, all the 35 accused were presented in the Anti-Terrorism Court at Saidu Sharif for confession. The accused denied the crime of Madyan’s health which took place on June 20. The Anti Terrorism Court’s Judge Mr.Shaukat Ahmed Khan sent all the accused to jail on judicial remand. The police presented the accused in the court under strict security arrangements and after orders to send them to prison, all the accused were shifted to District Jail Swat. According to the police, during the investigation, the accused made important revelations regarding the incident and on this basis, the police has widened the scope of the investigation. However, the accused have refused to accept their crime in front of the court. ” A case of killing a person who desecrated the Quran has been registered in the Madyan police station and burning of building and vehicles as well.” police officials said. It should be remembered that on June 20, a tourist Muhammad Sulaiman son of Qamar Aziz r/o Sialkot Punjab , who was staying in a local hotel in Madyan, a tourist area of Swat, was redeem by a mob from police custody for allegedly desecrating the Holy Quran and killed him in the bazaar and later on set on fire.
“After making announcements through the loudspeaker, the mob shouted at the Madyan police station and set fire to the building and the vehicles in it.
After this incident, Madyan police registered a case against the slain Sulaiman under the Blasphemy Act. While against the mob, they have registered a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act, including murder, attempted murder, ambush and entry into the government. 49 accused have been nominated while around 2500 unknown accused have been nominated in the FIR.
According to the police, the burnt and affected pages of the Holy Quran have been recovered from the hotel and made part of the investigation and further investigation is being conducted in this regard.
Head of JIT, SP Badshah Hazrat Khan further said that 35 accused have been arrested in this case so far and action is on to identify 14 more nominees and other 2500 unknown accused and very soon other accused will also be brought to justice.
He said that the deceased Sulaiman came to Swat about three months ago and has stayed in other places including Fizagat, while he rented a room in Madyan hotel on June 18 and this incident took place on June 20.
He said that this case is being investigated from various angles and many police will find out the real motive and bring it before the public.
According to the police, the ages of these 35 arrested persons are between 20 and 30 years and the criminal records of 8 of them have also come to light. In which 2 accused are accused of selling drugs, while minor cases are registered against others.
