Washington: At least 28 people were killed after a passenger bus overturned and plunged into a drain in Balochistan’s Washuk district on Wednesday morning.
According to rescue and relief workers, around 22 people were injured in the accident and admitted to the civil hospital in Basima.
According to rescue workers, the accident occurred after the tire of the passenger bus burst. The bus leaves from Gwadar to Quetta.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident and prayed for the departed souls.
The Prime Minister also directed the concerned authorities to help the injured.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti expressed condolences to the dead and prayed for the injured.
In two similar incidents in May, 13 family members were killed and nine others were injured when a truck plowed into a mine in Punjab’s Hushab district.
The accident occurred on Jalan Panj Pir Manawan Hushab due to brake failure due to the truck driver losing control and falling into the ditch.
The women included those who died in a tragic accident, and their families went to Hushab.
Meanwhile, a passenger bus skidded off a narrow mountain road and plunged into a valley in the Diamer district of Gilgit Baltistan, injuring 21 people.
According to the police, the incident took place in the Ashashokhal area on the Karakoram Highway in Diamer on Friday morning.
The bus is going from Rawalpindi to Gilgit. Meanwhile, police said there were at least 38 passengers on board.
