SWAT: 22 accused arrested involved in the Madyan incident of Swat district were handed over to the police on 10-day physical remand by the Anti-Terrorism Court.
On June 20, Muhammad Sulaiman resident of Sialkot, the alleged perpetrator of blaspheming the Holy Quran in Madyan, was killed and burnt and taken to the police station.
According to police The 22 accused involved in the burning and damage were produced by the police in the court of Anti-Terrorism Judge Shaukat Ahmad Khan here on Monday
The police requested a fifteen-day physical remand of the accused for investigation. However, the court handed over the accused to the police on a ten-day physical remand.
A case has been registered against these accused under the provisions of murder, attempted murder, arson, interference in government and anti-terrorism act 7ATA.
The accused were produced in the court under high security and after getting physical remand, they were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
Action is on to arrest 2500 other suspects including 39 nominated accused in the FIR and 5 more suspects have been taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
However, they are still being investigated and their arrest has not been formally confirmed by the police.
A large number of people active in the angry mob have gone underground to avoid arrest.
However, with the help of videos, the accused are being identified by the police.
