MUZAFFARABAD: In a tragic accident, a passenger jeep plunged into Neelum River in Azad Jammu and Kashmir while crossing Laiswa Bari Pass Road at Deoliyan in Neelum Valley, resulting in the loss of 13 lives, according to police reports.
The jeep was traveling from Leepa Valley towards Muzaffarabad when it veered off the road and fell into the river.
The authorities immediately informed the rescue teams and 1122 emergency personnel responded immediately. However, heavy rainfall made rescue operations significantly more difficult.
Rescue teams continue their efforts in difficult weather conditions to recover bodies and help the injured.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and have urged drivers to take extra care on treacherous mountain roads, especially in bad weather.
