PESHAWAR: The interim government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has banned all medical and teaching institutions (MTIs) from all types of new appointments and policy decisions by the board of directors until an elected government is formed in the province.
The directive was issued following complaints filed against some alleged illegal steps taken at 10 MTI hospitals in the province.
Sources said that while considering the complaints, the caretaker provincial government issued notices to the chairmen of MTI boards including Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar Institute of Cardiology, Bacha Khan Medical Complex, Mardan Medical Complex, Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad, Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital Bannu, Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex Nowshera and Mufti Mehmood Memorial Memorial Teaching Hospital D I Khan.
According to the directive, the board of directors of these hospitals will not make any political decisions or accept new appointments. The chairmen of the boards of directors of MTI hospitals were called upon to strictly comply with the guidelines.
