KARACHI: The US Navy’s USS INDIANAPOLIS, a Freedom-class littoral combat ship (LCS) visited the Karachi port here on Thursday and conducted a naval exercise with the Pakistan Navy.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), upon arrival in Karachi, the US Navy ship was received by senior officials of the Pakistan Navy.
During the stay in Karachi, activities included professional interaction with PN officials and the ship’s crew in the form of round table discussions on current issues, in addition to planning and coordination meetings for the conduct of the joint naval exercise. At sea, the Pakistan Navy’s helicopter-mounted ship ALAMGIR conducted a naval exercise with a visiting US Navy ship to improve interoperability between the two navies.
The exercise at sea was aimed at strengthening each other’s professional skills through cooperation and mutual learning experiences. The Pakistan Navy has always contributed significantly to the safety, security and freedom of navigation on the high seas, in line with government policy. In this regard, Pakistan Navy’s regional maritime security patrol and participation in coalition naval operations since 2004 is a manifestation of PN’s commitment to safe and secure seas for the common cause of peace and stability in the region.
