ISLAMABAD: The government has disbursed an amount of Rs 33.16 million for various schemes of NTDC/PEPCO in the power sector under the annual Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) in the last fiscal year 2023-24.
According to official data released by the Planning Commission, the government has earmarked an amount of Rs 55.27 billion for various NTDC/PEPCO projects in PSDP 2023-24. Of the total amount released, the local component was Rs 29.639 billion, while the foreign aid component was Rs 25.638 billion. An amount of Rs 38,800 billion has been spent so far on various water related projects.
Under the ongoing schemes, an amount of Rs 12,000 crore has been allocated for installation of 2x600MW GENCO-1 Jamshoro coal-fired power project, Rs 2,536.471 crore for interconnection of Makran isolated grid, Rs 1,600 crore each for Hairpur 220kV Substation, Swabi20kV Substation, Rs 1,200 crore for 500 kV Allama Iqbal Industrial City for 600 MW Special Economic Zone Demand, Rs 1,059 crore for replacement of LT Bare Wire for ABC Cable in Peshawar Khyber Circle and Bannu Circle, Rs 1,439 crore for 222 KvIS/13 Dhabji Substation , Rs 964 crore for electrification works in various valleys of District Chitral and Rs 900 crore for 220 kV Quaid-e-Azam Apparel and Business Park in PSDP for FY 2023-24.
Similarly, an amount of Rs 13,800 crore has been specified for power evacuation from Suki Kinari, Kohala, Mahal power plants, Rs 5,667.094 crore for power evacuation from 2160 MW Dasu phase-1, Rs 16,099.255 crore for 500 kV Tajiki DC transmission system between HV Pakistan (CASA -1000), Rs 3,904,500 crore for 500 KV Lahore North, Rs 2,324 crore for NTDC Telecom Upgradation, Rs 7,000 crore for expansion of existing 500 kV and 220 kV substations, Rs 3,000 crore (Investment in Power Distribution Expansion II in crores) Metering Infrastructure Project), Rs 950 crores for power evacuation from 1,224 MW wind farms at Jhamir and other ongoing projects.
Under the new schemes, Rs 2,658 crore has been allocated for land acquisition for installation of 1,200 MW solar power plant at Sher Garh (Layyah), Rs 1,133 crore for land acquisition for installation of 600 MW solar power plant in Tehsil Athara Hazari (Jhang), Rs 1,900 crore for 500 KV Islamabad West, Rs 1000 million each for power distribution efficiency improvement projects at MEPCO and HESCO, Rs 1300 million for extension of 2×160 MVA transformers with 2×250 MVA Yousafwala, Rs 639 million for installation of wide area monitoring system and Rs 500 million for 220kV Na Shah Grid Station in PSDP for FY2023-24.
