ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday said that it has never said that PTI is not a political party.
The commission came up with its stand after the Supreme Court announced its verdict in the case of reserved seats.
The ECP said PTI is a political party whose name appears in the list of political parties on the website. Moreover, according to her, the electoral commission did not misunderstand any decision.
The Election Commission has declared PTI’s intra-party elections invalid. PTI took to various forums against it.
As many as 39 MNAs have been declared as PTI members in the SC decision announced on Friday.
Election Commission sources further said that the ECP’s decision has been “confirmed”. PTI’s intra-party election was invalid, the logical consequence of which was the withdrawal of the bat symbol under Section 215 of the Election Act.
