ISLAMABAD: Charge’D Affaires Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Pakistan; Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma said on Friday that the role of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) business community will be significant in promoting bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a very important position for regional trade due to its geography, which can play a key role in future bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan and economic integration with Central Asian states, Charge’D Affaires from the Embassy of Indonesia to Pakistan, said Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma.
Indonesian Chargé d’Affaires Rahmat Hindiatra said this at an interactive meeting with the business community and KPK leaders including former KPK Governor Haji Ghulam Ali, former provincial minister Adnan Jalil and others in Peshawar.
Adnan Jalil welcomed the Indonesian delegation and was joined by former governor Haji Ghulam Ali, former caretaker provincial minister and industrialist Haji Fazl Elahi, former presidents of Sarhad Chamber, Ishaq Khan and Sirajuddin, along with Rashid Awan of SMEDA and other dignitaries.
Charge’D Affaires of the Embassy of Indonesia said that the volume of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan is less than its potential which needs to be further increased and in this regard the entrepreneurs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can play an important role in the economic and trade field. integration of Indonesia with Central Asian states.
A senior diplomat said that Pakistan can become a trade hub of Central Asian states for Indonesia in the future in which both countries can gain economic and trade benefits through comprehensive planning.
Rahmat Hindiarta said that Pakistan is a geostrategically important country, a natural geo-economic partner of Indonesia, and bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries will be strengthened in the future.
He said that to promote bilateral trade between the two countries, not only market but also sectoral diversification is needed to increase mutual trade.
He said that there is a need to further promote people-to-people relations between the two countries so that the people of the two countries come closer to each other.
The meeting included an in-depth discussion on successful sectors in both countries and concluded with a decision to work together to strengthen Pakistan-Indonesia relations.
Both sides expressed satisfaction at the prospect of boosting trade, industry, youth and cultural tourism to strengthen closer ties and pave the way for economic stability.
The Indonesian delegation invited former governor Haji Ghulam Ali, Adnan Jalil and other participants to visit Indonesia, an invitation which was warmly appreciated by the hosts.
Meanwhile, Rahmat Hindiatra on the occasion emphasized the need for the two countries to share experiences in industry and trade to strengthen and expand their trade relations.
Rahmat Hindiatra and Economic Attaché Axelsyah R Miraza appreciated the hardworking and dedicated people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and expressed their desire to work with them.
The meeting ended with the Indonesian delegation handing over plaques to former governor Haji Ghulam Ali and Adnan Jalil and thanking them for their hospitality.
