KABUL: On Monday, Mullah Hasan Akhund, the prime minister of Afghanistan, informed Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), that Kabul “did not intend to harm” Pakistan or any other nation.
The 11-member team headed by Fazl, who had come to Kabul the previous day at the invitation of the Afghan interim government, was met by the premier of Afghanistan, who made these statements. The JUI-F is making its first journey to the neighboring nation since the Taliban took power there in 2021.
Mullah Hasan was reported in a statement released today by Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Afghan government, as stating that the “Islamic Emirate will not allow anyone to pose a threat to any country.”
The Afghan PM underlined the role of religious experts as very crucial to settle difficulties and eradicate misunderstandings between Islamabad and Kabul, it said.
The leader of the Taliban also demanded an end to Pakistani authorities’ “brutal” treatment of Afghan refugees. “Such kind of behaviour does not solve the problems but leads to mistrust,” the statement cited Mullah Hasan as saying.
Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister of Afghanistan, spoke about “the problems of Afghan traders” and the difficulties brought about by Pakistani officials in exports and transit trade. Muttaqi was present at the conference.

“Trade and bilateral economic issues should not be sacrificed for political purposes,” according to a comment from Muttaqi.
According to the statement, Fazl congratulated the Afghan people and called the Islamic Emirate’s triumph over the invasion a significant success.
The head of JUI-F expressed optimism that Afghanistan’s Islamic system would continue to be reinforced, since this would benefit the Islamic world.
According to reports, Fazl stated, “The goal of my visit is to clear up any misconceptions between the two countries.” Both parties also demanded coordinated efforts to resolve the issues that still exist in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
In a different statement, the JUI-F media cell stated that following the meeting, Fazl emphasized the need for the two nations to work together in the areas of politics, commerce, economics, and mutual growth.
