Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has officially inaugurated five hybrid double-decker buses for the first time in Pakistan’s history. She inspected one of the hybrid double-decker buses and also traveled in it. Officials provided a briefing to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz regarding the hybrid double-decker buses.
During the briefing, it was highlighted that the double-decker bus service in Lahore began in November 2015 during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The buses are used for tourism, catering to academia, diplomats, state guests, the corporate sector, showbiz personalities, and the general public to visit tourist attractions.
It was further mentioned in the briefing that three new hybrid double-decker buses will be introduced on new routes for tourism in Lahore, while one bus each will be added in Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi. Additionally, double-decker bus services will also be launched for tourism in Multan and Faisalabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that more new, modern, and eco-friendly buses will be provided for metropolitan tourism throughout Punjab.
Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Minister of Information and Culture Uzma Bukhari, Special Assistant Rashid Nasrullah, MPA Sania Ashiq, the Chief Secretary, and other officials were also present at the event.
