The Pakistan national cricket team, currently in the United States for the 2024 T20 World Cup, suffered a setback as key batsman Imad Wasim was dropped for the opening match.
Confirming Wasim’s absence in the first match, captain Babar Azam said the midfielder was sidelined with concussion.
“Imad Wasim is suffering from a side strain which means he will not be able to play in our opening match,” said Babar.
Despite the setback, the violinist is optimistic about Wasim’s participation in the remaining matches of cricket’s mega tournament.
“Although Imad will not play the first game, we hope he will be available for the rest of the game.”
Pakistan will face USA in the World Cup opener on June 6 (tomorrow).
Team USA started their campaign with a win over Canada in the first T20 World Cup.
