LAHORE: Senior Provincial Chief Minister Marryum Aurangzeb has said that Punjab government is taking important steps in terms of “No Plastic Campaign”.
In his statement, he said that on the special orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a campaign has been launched to protect the people from deadly diseases caused by the use of plastic. He said preparations are being made to ensure the implementation of a strict mechanism to ban the production, manufacture, distribution and sale of illegal plastic bags from June 5. “The use of plastic causes cancer and other fatal diseases and the single use of plastic increases environmental pollution and causes health problems. Action is being taken against factories manufacturing illegal plastic products,” he said.
“Many messages have been sent about this issue. From June 5, hotels, restaurants and other food institutions will be prohibited from serving food in plastic bags. Strict action will be taken against owners who violate this ban. have legal food and heavy fines will also be he said. Chief Minister Marryum Aurangzeb said that the use of polythene bags and single-use plastic containers has been completely banned. The public awareness campaign to avoid using plastic will be launched under the theme of ‘Death to Plastic’ through social media.Plastic ban notices will be pasted in malls, offices, bus stands, parks, transport vehicles, Daewoo, metro buses and public places.
Marryum Aurangzeb said instead of using plastic bags, the production, sale and use of cotton bags or alternative sources will be introduced. “Plastic kills and we all need to work together to prevent toxic and harmful effects.
