Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima visited Huawei Pakistan to celebrate World Telecommunication Day in Islamabad. The Ministry delegation including Babar Sheikh, Coordinator Sania Zaidi and Mr. Zhangangzhenen, CEO of Carrier Network Business Group from Huawei Management, Mr. Shaizad Rashid, Deputy Director General of Public Relations – Cloud, Mr. Saad Talha Saeed – Director of Public Affairs and Mr. Ahmed Aziz – Director of Public Relations also present.
World Telecommunication Day is dedicated to raising awareness of the role of telecommunications in people’s lives and community development around the world.

In his speech, the Minister said that WTD 2024 highlights the power of digital innovation in promoting sustainable development and prosperity for all. He also appreciated Huawei’s commitment to build a complete and intelligent world, and we as the Government of Pakistan will continue to support Huawei in building a strong ICT talent ecosystem and accelerating the development of digitization.
He said that there is huge potential in Pakistan’s ICT space. World Telecommunication Day is a reminder of the importance of communication and connectivity in our increasingly digital world. Technology and telecommunications play an important role in bridging the gap between individuals, communities and nations and facilitating the exchange of information, ideas and knowledge.
Last year, Huawei launched the first Smart Village project in Pakistan and launched the first Hyper-Scale Financial Cloud, focusing on sustainability and green solutions, Zhangzhenhen said. The Government of Pakistan has launched the Smart Village Pakistan project to address the extreme disparity between urban and rural development indicators. The first domestic financial cloud contributes to economic growth and employment by solving data security issues, reducing latency and increasing efficiency and optimizing costs.
