ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s birth anniversary on November 9, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged the nation to draw inspiration from the Poet of the East, Allama Iqbal’s philosophy to create a united, enlightened, and prosperous Pakistan.
President Zardari urges renewal of commitment to Iqbal’s ideals
In his message, President Zardari called on citizens to renew their dedication to Allama Iqbal’s ideals and principles, emphasizing that his vision remains a guiding force for Pakistan’s progress. “As we pay tribute to his remarkable legacy, we must take strength from his life and teachings to build a peaceful, cohesive, and thriving Pakistan,” he said.
Iqbal’s philosophy shaped Muslim identity and Pakistan’s foundation
He noted that Allama Iqbal’s philosophy had awakened a sense of identity, independence, and self-determination among the Muslims of the subcontinent, adding that his historic 1930 address to the All-India Muslim League laid the intellectual foundation for a separate homeland.
Iqbal’s literary and spiritual legacy continues to inspire Pakistan
“Iqbal’s influence goes far beyond his literary contributions such as Asrar-e-Khudi, Rumuz-e-Bekhudi, and Bang-e-Dara, which deeply explore the themes of identity, spirituality, and freedom,” the president remarked. He added that Iqbal’s ideas continue to define Pakistan’s national character and inspire its people toward self-realization and unity.
President Zardari prayed that Iqbal’s wisdom may continue to guide the nation on its path to collective advancement and serve as a beacon for generations to come.
Shehbaz Sharif highlights Iqbal’s message of education and self-belief
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, described Allama Iqbal as “a spiritual and intellectual force who kindled a flame of awareness in the darkness of servitude and taught a disheartened nation the lesson of self-belief.”
Government committed to promoting Iqbal’s vision through education
He said the government remains committed to promoting education that not only provides employment opportunities but also cultivates intellect, moral strength, and a sense of purpose in the youth. “Allama Iqbal taught us that faith, knowledge, and action are the pillars upon which strong nations are built,” he added, noting that Iqbal’s philosophy continues to provide valuable guidance in addressing modern challenges both nationally and globally.
Youth-focused initiatives reflect Iqbal’s concept of empowered generations
Highlighting the government’s youth-focused initiatives, the prime minister mentioned programmes such as Uraan Pakistan, designed to offer modern education, skills training, and job opportunities for young people — whom Allama Iqbal regarded as the “falcons of the future.”
Iqbal’s message of unity and justice remains timeless
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Iqbal’s message of unity, tolerance, and justice is more relevant than ever. “In today’s divided world, his call for brotherhood over sectarianism, love over hatred, and justice over power is the need of the hour,” he stated.
Building the Pakistan of Iqbal’s dreams
He concluded by reaffirming the government’s resolve to follow Iqbal’s teachings in national policymaking, saying, “Our ultimate goal is to transform Pakistan into the nation Allama Iqbal envisioned — one grounded in knowledge, compassion, equality, and peace.”
