ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Sharia Board Pakistan, Professor Sheikh Al-Hadith Dr. Mufti Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Jalali announced on Thursday that the minimum sadaqah of Fitr and Fidya for fasting this year has been fixed at Rs 300 per person, roughly equivalent to two kilograms of wheat flour.
In a statement, he emphasized the importance of philanthropists and wealthy individuals to contribute Sadaqah Fitr and Fidya according to their financial means, with values fixed at Rs 600 for oats, Rs 2400 for dates and Rs 4400 for raisins.
Similarly, he outlined the Fidya rates for fasting for the entire month of Ramazan, which is Rs 9,000 for wheat flour,
Rs 18,000 for oats, Rs 72,000 for dates and Rs 132,000 for raisins.
Dr. Jalali clarified that the Fidya for fasting was meant for individuals who were chronically ill or unable to fast with no prospect of recovery. Travelers and those who were temporarily unable to fast were required to make up the missed fasts as Fidya cannot be a substitute for abstaining from fasting, he argued.
