PESHAWAR: Federal Ombudsman Ijaz Ahmad Qureshi paid a visit to the Provincial Ombudsman Secretariat and met with Provincial Ombudsman Syed Jamal ud Din Shah at his office the other day, according to a press release issued here on Thursday.
The Provincial Ombudsman greeted the Federal Ombudsman and briefed him on the function and activities of the Provincial Ombudsman. He also informed him about the complaints and the methods used to resolve them at the secretariat level. He stated that in 2023, the province Ombudsman Office received a record number of complaints, which was higher than in previous years, and that the majority of complainants found relief by having their concerns resolved within the time frame specified in the Ombudsman Act.
He also congratulated the Federal Ombudsman on their election as President of the Asian Ombudsman Organisation, and hoped that he would continue to work on the development and well-being of the Ombudsman office on a global scale.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Ombudsman Ijaz Ahmad Qureshi praised the Provincial Ombudsman Secretariat for delivering timely help to the ordinary man. He praised Syed Jamal ud Din Shah’s role and actions as Provincial Ombudsman in establishing regional offices in DI Khan, Malakand, and Abbottabad, allowing residents of those areas to file complaints closer to home rather than visiting the Provincial Secretariat.
He emphasized the importance of working hard and not succumbing to pressure while making decisions on their own. The essential issue is how to deal with complainants and ensure their contentment while they visit your office. Always handle complaints respectfully.
He also praised the media cell’s role and recommended them to promote public awareness of the responsibilities of both the Federal and Provincial Ombudsman.
Finally, Provincial Ombudsman Syed Jamal Ud Din Shah gave a souvenir to the Federal Ombudsman.
